Preschool Curriculum
Kids are active learners and our preschool classes provide instruction that sets the foundation for successful academic careers. In a nurturing, Christ-centered environment, each student gains skills in the following areas:
Fine and gross motor skills
Spiritual growth
Phonics and language concepts
Math concepts
Social and Interpersonal relationships
Our preschool classes learn through small group activities, music enrichment, hands-on activities, art, dramatic play, and field trips.
Classroom
WCA preschool faculty have college training and possess a genuine love for children and teaching children. The maximum student-teacher ratio is 6 children per 1 adult in K2 and 10 children per 1 adult in K3 and K4. Preschool classes at Westover Christian Academy have a lead teacher and aide; some classes share a floating aide. K2 & K3 Preschool:
5 days (Monday-Friday) full or half day
3 days (Monday, Wednesday, & Friday) full or half day
2 days (Tuesday & Thursday) full or half day
K4 Preschool:
5 days (Monday-Friday) full or half day
School Hours
All day: 8:30 a.m.- 2:45 p.m.
Early drop off: 7:30 a.m. (no charge)
Late pick-up: 5:30 p.m. (for a fee)
Half day: 8:30 a.m.- 12:00 noon
Early drop off: 7:30 a.m. (no charge)
Licensing
The Code of Virginia, Section 22.1-289.031, allows preschools operated by religious institutions the opportunity to file for an exemption from licensure by meeting documentation and other requirements specified within the exemption law. In compliance with the Code of Virginia, Westover Christian Academy Preschool is exempt from licensure and is classified as a religiously exempt preschool.
