Soccer Battle- Bulldogs now 9-3-1
Westover Christian and Hargrave Military battled back and forth on a scorching hot day. The game ended in a 2-2 tie. Westover had not tied Hargrave since 2013 and had not beaten them since 2001. Westover was led by senior captain Justin Oakes who scored on a header from junior Matthew Moore in the first half. During the second half Oakes scored on an assist from 8th grader Keeley Bettendorf. A great save came from defensive sophomer Luke Barber who headed the ball away just as it was headed to the back of the net. Many other great saves were made by goalie Ashton Bettendorf. Westover had several chances and shots on goal during the final minutes of the second half but were not able to finish. Westover now moves to 9-3-1 and 6-2 in conference.
