State Champs

The Westover Christian Academy Middle School Boys Soccer team made history on Saturday, claiming the school’s first-ever soccer championship with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Grace Christian of Staunton, VA, in the VACA Championship.

The Bulldogs capped off an incredible season with a 13-1 record, showcasing grit, teamwork, and determination throughout the year.

In the championship match, Avery King led the offensive charge with two goals and one assist, while Jace Waller added a crucial goal to help secure the win. The midfield and defense were relentless, with Mason Payne recording 20 steals, Isaac Wolfe contributing 19 steals, and Evan Daniel leading the team with 24 steals. In goal, Noah Kendrick delivered a standout performance with 10 saves, anchoring the defense in a high-pressure game.

This victory marks a milestone for WCA athletics, as it is the first soccer championship in school history. The team’s success is a testament to their hard work, discipline, and the leadership of their coaching staff.

Coach Joe Kendrick said, "This season we accomplished what I have thought we had the potential to do for a few seasons. It all came together this year. We set some goals at the beginning of the season. First, a short term goal, before each game to win the game. A longer term goal, to be the number one seed and have home field advantage. And the long term goal of winning the state championship. These young men took it seriously, practiced hard, and played hearder. They never lost focus and I couldn't be prouder of them!"

Congratulations to the Bulldogs on a historic season!
