Spanish students love invoking their “special power” as the Cantaninja whenever their name is drawn from the class bucket. The Cantaninja has the power to stop whatever the class is doing at the moment, just long enough to choose one of the class songs (in Spanish, of course). The students enjoy it and it provides a brain break, but keeps them in the target language.
Fourth graders experienced fun hands-on learning in Old Salem today! Thank you, Mrs. Nance, for organizing a great field trip!

Danville,
The Westover Christian Academy JV Boys Basketball team took the floor for the first time this year and took on the defending VACA champion Eagles of Roanoke Valley Christian Academy and came away with a resounding victory 42-18. WCA actually started slow and fell behind 5-0 before going on a 12-0 run to finish the 1st quarter up 12-5. The 2nd quarter would also belong to the Bulldogs as they again scored 12 points while holding their opponent to just 3 points to enter the halftime break up 24-8. After some halftime encouragement, the team came out and throttled their opponent in the 3rd quarter by a score of 18-2. With the large lead (30+ points) the clock became a running clock in the 4th quarter and the Bulldogs would win the game 42-18. WCA was led in scoring by Ashton Bettendorf who had 9 points and 8 rebounds. Dallas Wheeler was a steadying influence and had 8 points and 5 rebounds. Isaac Von Eime and Aaron Salmon each had 6 points while Mason Campbell and Blake Barber both had 4. Luke Barber had 3 and Bailey McDowell chipped in with 2 points. With the win WCA improves to 1-0 (1-0 VACA). Our next game is on the road Thursday at Dayspring Christian at 4pm.
