
The Westover Christian Academy boys basketball team was back at home tonight for a district contest with the Faith-Hurt Lions. WCA was led by Dylan Aron who had 17 points, 13 of those in the third quarter.
WCA started the game a little shaky on defense but was able to go up 20 to 12 because of very efficient offense. The Bulldogs locked down on defense for quarters number two and three holding the lions to five points in the second quarter to go up at the half 33 to 17.
The Bulldogs continued to clamp down in a man-to-man defense throughout the third-quarter holding the Lions to six points and scoring 22 to put things out of reach. Faith would get hot in the 4th quarter hitting 18 points but WCA was still able to win handily. Final score 71-41 in a complete team victory
Josh Lewis was the second leading scorer for Westover he had 14 points, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 assists. Jezekiah Morris had 9 points and 4 rebounds. Dawson Booth had 4 points and led the team with 10 rebounds. Chris Miller had 8 points, 2 assists, along with two steals. Senior Captain Austin Salmon had four assists. Noah Burton added 5 points and 4 assists. Aaron Haley had a breakout performance tonight with 9 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists for the junior. Isaac Motley chipped in 2 points and had 2 assists as well. Matt Moore had a three point shot in the fourth quarter. This improves the Bulldogs record to 4-1, 4-0 in VACA. WCA will face another district game Friday night at 8 o’clock against Temple Christian.

Gingerbread Man STEM! Mrs. Beach and Mrs. Porterfield’s K4 class used materials to create a different way for the Gingerbread Man to cross the river so he would not be eaten up by the fox! There were some boats, airplanes, bridges and LOTS of imagination!

The Westover Christian Academy varsity boys basketball team lost its first game Friday night at New Covenant. This was WCA‘s first game in two weeks. The rust was very evident in the first quarter, the Bulldogs fell behind 22 to 9 trying to play man to man defense. The Bulldogs were unable to hold down New Covenant’s best player Jaden Walker who scored 32 points on the night, 25 in the first half. WCA would trail by as much as 24 points before making a run at the end of the first half to cut it to an 18 point lead 42 to 24 at the half.
The Bulldogs went into a 3-2 quarter court press and was able to contain the gryphons for the second half holding New Covenant to 25 total points. The Bulldogs cut the lead as low as eight before losing the game by 11. WCA was led by Dylan Aron who had 17 points seven rebounds Dylan connected on three three-pointers. Jezekiah Morris kept WCA in the game in the second half hitting 5-3 pointers to keep the game within reach. WCA was plagued by turnovers all night committing 14 turnovers and missing 8 free throws.
Noah Burton also added 10 points and Josh Lewis added 9. Dawson Booth had 8 rebounds for the Bulldogs. Dawson also had three points. Chris Miller chipped in two points as well.
The Bulldogs will be at home against district opponent Faith-Hurt on Tuesday night at 7 o’clock. WCA is 3-1 overall and 3-0 in the VACA

The WCA middle school girls took on new covenant tonight in our gym and came away with a 24 to 9 victory. Emily Evans led all scores 11 points followed by Skyla Goddard with six, Rihanna Smith have four, and Brooke Barrington have four.Way to go lady Bulldogs! Our record is now 4-1 for the young season.
