WCA Basketball wins 64-26 Danville, The Westover Christian Academy varsity boys basketball team won it’s fifth game of the season against district opponent Temple from Madison Heights, Virginia. Temple is coached by former WCA coach Jacob Parr. Both teams started the game very cold from a shooting standpoint at the end of the first quarter the score was 6 to 5. Dawson Booth had all six of WCA‘s points as he would end up with 10 points on the night along with nine rebounds, one assist and two steals. Westover was also plagued with turnovers in the first half committing nine. Westover gained some offensive momentum in the second quarter going up on Temple 22 to 16. But could not seem to pull away from the crusaders. Noah Burton and Jezekiah Morris helped spur the second quarter rally Jezekiah scored 6 of his 17 points including connecting on 5-3 point shots. Morris was five for eight from three-point range for the night. He was the leading scorer for the night and he also provided three steals. Noah ended the night with 7 points, 2 blocks and 2 steals. After some halftime adjustments the Bulldogs began to full-court press. WCA would explode for 30 points in the quarter while holding Temple to just 8. Temple would only score two more points in the fourth quarter as Westover backed out of its full court press but maintained a good solid defense. Closing out the second half on a 42 to 10 run. WCA got solid performances out of Josh Lewis who had nine points and nine rebounds and threw in a block and a steal as well. Dylan Aron had 10 points and seven assists, one block and two steals to strengthen the WCA attack. Austin Salmon came off the bench to score 4 points. Isaac Motley had four assists that help sparked the third-quarter rally. The Bulldogs only had one turnover in the second half as they continue their unselfish play. Isaac Motley also had five rebounds. Ben Fields was the leading scorer for Temple he had 10 points. Chris Miller also added five points in the fourth quarter for WCA. 5-1 WCA will travel to Chatham to face the Tigers of Hargrave Military Academy on Tuesday at 6:15. 5 11 8 2 6 16 30 12 Practice 1:15-3:00 tomorrow.
